Madonna Reportedly Faces Sluggish Ticket Sales For Madame X Tour

The iconic popstar Madonna is headed out on a tour in support of her 14th studio album, Madame X, later this year. While the tour seemed to be in high demand, a large amount of tickets for her New York City shows are still up-for-grabs.

The Madame X Tour is slated to kick-off on September 12 at the 2,100-seat BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn. From there, she’ll play 17 shows in the city. According to the New York Post, initial reports showed that her upcoming concerts were sold out. However, Ticketmaster’s website shows that hundreds of seats are still available for the Brooklyn shows, with a decent amount of its $357 mezzanine seats unsold for the final Brooklyn gig on October 7 concert as of Thursday afternoon.

Additionally, several dates on her upcoming tour – which is also set to hit Chicago, Las Vegas, Boston, and Los Angeles – are not selling out. Nearly half of the tour’s tickets remain unsold, as well as VIP packages. An insider told The Post that these numbers show a “shocking” lack of interest in the singer’s tour.

“It’s very telling these shows didn’t sell out as quickly as ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ did a couple of years ago,” the insider said. “This clearly isn’t the home run Team Madonna was hoping for.”

These statistics are a stark contrast to Madonna’s previous trek; her 2015-2016 Rebel Heart Tour garnered $170 million and drew in more than 30,000 fans for each performance. During this tour, she sold out Madison Square Garden twice and reportedly sold out Yankee Stadium in 20 minutes. While this upcoming outing is dubbed as an “intimate” experience, the numbers have not been up to par.

Promoter Live Nation, however, told The Post that a huge number of seats are currently available because it has “increased the number of shows exponentially due to overwhelming demand.”

“We added 10 shows in New York alone (a total of 17) to accommodate Madonna’s vast fanbase,” Live Nation said. “We removed suspicious requests throughout the campaign to ensure as many real fans as possible were able to access tickets. With the first round of tickets completely fulfilled and delivered to verified registered fans, Live Nation released a limited amount of additional tickets (Monday).”

Madame X, which is due tomorrow, June 14, may add momentum to the tour’s ticket sales. So far, she’s released singles “Medellin” and “Crave.”
