Diaspora Calling! has completed the lineup for its first-ever UK edition, adding Erykah Badu, Giggs, Fireboy DML and Dave Chappelle to an event already headlined by Ms. Lauryn Hill.
The festival will take place at Milton Keynes National Bowl on August 7, with Lauryn Hill’s appearance remaining her only confirmed UK performance of 2026. The event will also see Hill reunite with Wyclef Jean for a special performance celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Score, alongside appearances from YG Marley and Zion Marley.
The latest additions broaden an already ambitious bill that spans multiple generations and genres of Black music and culture. Neo-soul icon Erykah Badu, British rap heavyweight Giggs and Nigerian Afrobeats star Fireboy DML all join the lineup, while comedian Dave Chappelle has been announced as the festival’s host.
Originally launched by Lauryn Hill in 2016, Diaspora Calling! began as a Brooklyn-based music and arts initiative celebrating the creativity, culture and shared histories of the African diaspora. Over the past decade, it has expanded beyond its original exhibition and performance format while maintaining a focus on artistic collaboration, cultural exchange and community.
Badu’s inclusion brings one of contemporary music’s most influential artists to the event. Widely credited with helping define the neo-soul movement, the singer-songwriter has built a career blending R&B, jazz and hip-hop while becoming a cultural force beyond music.
Giggs adds one of the UK’s most respected rap voices to the lineup. A pioneer of British hip-hop, the South London artist has played a key role in shaping the country’s rap scene through a career spanning more than two decades.
Representing the global rise of Afrobeats is Fireboy DML, whose chart success and international collaborations have made him one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports. His appearance further strengthens the festival’s international reach.
Meanwhile, Chappelle will bring a different dimension to the event as host. The award-winning comedian and social commentator is expected to guide audiences through a programme designed to blend live music with broader cultural storytelling.
Beyond the performances, organizers are positioning Diaspora Calling! as a large-scale cultural gathering rather than a traditional music festival. The event will feature a single main stage alongside a food village celebrating diverse cuisines and traders, with Milton Keynes National Bowl providing the backdrop for the festival’s UK debut.
With its final lineup now confirmed, Diaspora Calling! is set to make a significant entrance into the UK festival calendar, anchored by Lauryn Hill’s rare British appearance and a cross-generational lineup celebrating Black music, creativity and the shared stories of the global diaspora.
